Whew Hoo! It’s Free Book Fridays!

By Fawn Weaver on Friday, December 9, 2011

I’ve been waiting all week for this. Since kicking off “Whew Hoo!  It’s Free Book Fridays!” last week with a twin-pack giveaway of Project Happily Ever After and A Short Guide to a Happy Marriage, I’ve been waiting for this Friday to be able to do it again.

Before I continue..The winners of last week’s contest are Paula and Kita P.  These names were selected by Random.org using their “Random Sequence Generator”. Congratulations, Paula and Kita!  I’ll be sending you a message via Facebook to obtain the address where your books should be shipped.

Now, on to this week.  I am excited to announce the book we will be giving away today is The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman.  This book has been on the top of the New York Times Bestsellers list for more than four years and as of this week remains #1.  This must be a great book!

Although I’ve heard about it years, for some reason, I never felt compelled to buy it.  That was until last week when I asked the readers of this blog to share which book on marriage has inspired them the most.  Nearly 90% of those who answered said The 5 Love Languages.  Immediately, I got on Amazon and bought three copies.  One copy for me.  The other two are for this week’s giveaway.  Whew hoo!

After purchasing the books, I went on Dr. Gary Chapman’s website and took the 5 Love Languages Assessment and discovered my love language officially.  If you’ve never taken the assessment, you can take it here for Free!  It’s pretty cool, only takes a few minutes, and you can’t beat free.  Here are my Love Language Assessment scores:

8 Words of Affirmation

8 Quality Time

0 Receiving Gifts

3 Acts of Service

11 Physical Touch

The highest score you can get in any single category is 12 so I guess my Love Language is pretty clear.  I’m looking forward to beginning the book this weekend and am even more excited about giving two copies away to you!

To enter this giveaway, it’s super simple (I don’t like contests that require you to jump through 99 hoops so I promise to never do that):

1. Leave a comment below answering the following question: “What do you love most about being married?”

2. “Like” us on Facebook

3. Share our Facebook fan page link on your FB wall so other’s can learn about this Club

That’s it!  Pretty simple, right?  The winners will be announced here and on Facebook next Friday.   Thanks for joining us this week at The Happy Wives Club daily blog.

Until Monday…make it a great day!

P.S. If you’ve still not officially joined the Club, it’s super simple and only takes a few moments.  Join here.

What I love most about being married is the absolute honesty my husband and I have in our relationship. Without that our marriage would not have the passion, love, respect, support and encouragement that it does.

  • Alecia D.

Since me and my husband got married, I feel like we have more balance in our relationship than the we did before. It might be a result of us both really wanting this, knowing and seeing that in each other, and truly working towards a happy marriage together. I'm learing to appeciate the obstacles and struggles we have overcome , and the things I adored I just adore even more. This balance has found its way into other aspects our life as well. It is true how they say that marriage can be like a fine wine- getting better with age.

The thing that I love most about marriage is knowing that I have a partner in all that life brings. I don't need to face things solo. I have my best friend by my side in all things and in all seasons of life.

Several years ago, I watched a movie…can't remember what it's called, but it has Richard Gere, JLo, and Sigourney Weaver. He's taking dance lessons from JLo and Sigourney is his wife. In that movie the wife says something about having a witness to your life. It was so beautifully put. That's what I love the most about being married. There is a witness to my life–someone going through many of the same things I am, especially as we're raising our family together. Someone to love me through the bad times and enjoy with me through the good. And because of that, someone who understands me better and more completely than anyone else in the world.

I love most things about being married but having someone by my side through life, making memories, rejoicing in good times and holding eachother up through bad times.

  • Amanda S.

    I "like" you on fb.

  • Fawn Weaver

@Amanda- I love that! I don't know the movie either but now I'm going to try to find that portion of it on YouTube and if that doesn't work I'll just rent the movie :) . @Colleen, Alecia & Paula- Ditto! Ditto! Ditto! Thank you all for taking the time to stop by and post a comment. You are all entered to win The 5 Love Languages. Whew hoo!

Sorry if this posts twice! Had a bit of trouble last time… : )

I love the way my husband's love shows me how God loves me. His well-timed words, his emails/texts that say "I'm praying for you" point my eyes to Jesus and that makes me a better wife.

  • Fawn Weaver

@Kristi- Thanks for posting it again because it showed up only once. I had someone else tell me they had a similar challenge last night. So sorry about that. Hopefully, my blog platform won't be having these hiccups much longer :) . Thanks for stopping by and you're now entered to win!

  • Fawn Weaver

Thanks, Angie & Amanda! Truly appreciate you stopping by. @Amanda- Don't forget to respond to the question, "What do you love most about being married" in order to enter to win this fabulous book :) .

I love that my husband is there for me, truly for richer or poorer, for better or worse, in sickness and in health. He will call me on stuff, he will encourage and push me when I am in need, and comfort me when I am down. And he's a great listener too!

  • Fawn Weaver

@Kim-Isn't it such a blessing to have a husband who will call you on your stuff! I have one of those and I'd be a mess if it weren't for him putting a mirror to me all the time to see the good stuff, as well as the stuff I still need to work on . I'm a much better person because of it.

  • http://www.longdazeshortyears.blogspot.com The Mommy

I commented before, but maybe it didn't show? I dunno. I'm sort of, um, technologically challenged! What do I love most about being married, huh? Tough question, but I guess mostly it's the comfort of knowing that someone loves me enough to want to spend all of our days together. Whadyaknow? Not so tough to answer, after all!

PS I have this book so I would use it as a gift. Does that break the rules? For the record, my love language is quality time. I'm looking into getting his book on children's love languages soon!

  • Fawn Weaver

@The Mommy- Too funny :) . Now, it definitely doesn't break the rules to get this for someone else. That is great! So many already have this book so I imagine many will be using it as a gift anyhow. Thanks for stopping by and posting your comment. You're now entered to win! :)

I was having a problem with posting my comments on here with Safari too! :/ I love never having to wonder who I can hang out with. I have a built-in partner for life! It's so awesome. And I always know his schedule so I just pencil myself into every area that's blank! Hehe :-)

  • Fawn Weaver

@Christy Joy- I do that too! Just pencil myself in wherever I'd like :) .

Being married is like having a partner in crime in all your demeanour and misadventure through the rest of our life.

  • Fawn Weaver

@Rach- Your comment reminds me of a great quote I just read from journalist, Robert Brault, "There comes a time when a man and woman realize that their separate schemes can be better achieved as a conspiracy."

    Great =)
